Psychodiagnostic Assessment

Who is This For:

A psychodiagnostic assessment is designed for individuals seeking clarity on their mental health concerns. Whether you’ve been experiencing persistent anxiety, depression, OCD symptoms, mood instability, or difficulties related to attention and focus, a comprehensive evaluation can provide valuable insight. These assessments are particularly helpful for those who:

  • Struggle with ongoing mental health challenges and want a clearer diagnosis
  • Have concerns about attention, memory, or processing speed affecting daily life
  • Need a formal diagnosis for treatment planning or accommodations
  • Are seeking an assessment of intellectual functioning or cognitive abilities

If you’re looking for an assessment to better understand your psychological well-being and guide your next steps in therapy or self-care, a comprehensive assessment may help.

Types of Assessments Offered:

At Journey to Thrive Psychology, psychodiagnostic and cognitive assessments are provided for the following areas:

Mental Health & Diagnostic Clarity:

  • Anxiety disorders (Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety)
  • Depressive disorders
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Personality disorders
  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Other mental health concerns affecting daily life

Cognitive and IQ Testing:

  • Intellectual and cognitive functioning assessments (IQ testing)
  • Attention and executive functioning evaluations (for ADHD and related concerns)
  • Processing speed and working memory assessment

These evaluations can provide a better understanding of cognitive strengths and challenges, which can be useful for academic, occupational, or personal growth.

How Assessments Differ from Neuropsychological Testing:

While I offer cognitive and IQ testing, my focus is on diagnostic clarity and treatment planning rather than in-depth neuropsychological assessments.

A neuropsychological evaluation may be more appropriate if you have concerns related to:

  • Traumatic brain injuries (TBI), concussions, or stroke recovery
  • Dementia or memory decline
  • Specific learning disabilities (e.g., dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia)
  • Comprehensive cognitive evaluations for legal, forensic, or disability claims

If specialized neuropsychological testing is needed, I am happy to refer you to trusted neuropsychologists in my network to ensure you receive the most appropriate care.

What to Expect:

The assessment process is designed to be thorough yet supportive. Here’s what you can expect:

  1. Initial Consultation:  We begin with a clinical interview to gather background information, discuss your concerns, and determine the best assessment approach.
  2. Testing Sessions: You will complete a series of standardized assessments tailored to your needs.
  3. Feedback Session: We will review the results together, discuss key findings, and provide individualized recommendations for next steps.
  4. Comprehensive Report: You will receive a detailed report summarizing the findings and tailored recommendations.

Collaborative Care Approach:

I believe in a collaborative approach to assessment and mental health care. If your concerns extend beyond psychological and cognitive functioning into neurological conditions (e.g., TBI, dementia, or complex learning disabilities), I can provide referrals to neuropsychologists for specialized testing.

If you're unsure whether a psychodiagnostic or cognitive assessment is the right step for you, feel free to reach out for a consultation to discuss your concerns and explore your options.
